Book Reviews (for 7/31/09)

Here are my three latest reads:

The Devil Wears Prada By: Lauren Weisberger
3 1/2 stars (out of 5 stars)
I read this one really early in the summer, but decided I would review it anyway.
Read it!!! Very good. Super funny and enjoyable. Surprisely, it is very similar to the movie. Or I guess I should say, when they made the movie they didn't change the plot that much. Smart!

The Season   By: Sarah MacLean
3 stars (out of 5)
This is a historical fiction novel for young adults by debut novelist Sarah MacLean. Firstly, I would say don't get turned off by the cover, because it looks rather juvenile.

The book is quite good. Basically, it is a historical romance for teenagers, and early twenty somethings.
I really like the characters, they are very real and full of life. I wasn't quite sure about the murder, I did not think it would be realistic. But, surprisedly it was.(Sorry, for the spoiler!)  My only problem was just how much the author wrote about the main character (Alex's) best friends. It was almost like she was too dependent on them. Ok, a small problem.
I would recommend this novel to others. Warning: it is an easy read, doesn't make you think that much.

Pack up the Moon    By: Anna McPartlin
1 1/2 stars (out of five)

Think P.S. I Love You. This novel is very similar. Girl is in love with guy, guy dies, girl is full of guilt and depressed, girl eventually falls in love with ex love's friend. So, they are not exactly the same. But, very similar. I had the same problem with this novel as I did with the other, wayyy too long. Why, do these authors draw these books out forever? It would be much better, if it was concise. Get to the point already!

I Caved In...

So, I have finally decided to start a blog. I really don't know why it has taken me so long. I was drawn in, by reading other people's blogs, mainly two.  Since I enjoy writing, I thought it would be nice and easy for me to keep an on-line journal. I have never been the best at keeping my own personal journals...so I guess we will see how this works out.
At first I was just going to make this blog solely on book reviews. This would basically be my opinion on books I am currently reading. But, I figured that might be boring. So, I will just throw them in the mix. I recently finished one book and am almost finished with another, so the book reviews will be coming soon.
Also, another reason to have a blog is: I have a lot to talk about this summer. Mainly, because so much has happened and I have been so busy. Between, work and my sister's wedding I could fill a book.
And, since I am approaching my mid twenties (ha,ha- not true) I figured a blog is a classier web page than a facebook.
Oh, and for the countdown, EIGHT days left at the Pilot.... Hard to believe!!!!!!!
